THE BEGINNING
Nine Watches was founded in 2008 by master watchmaker Alexandre Fontaine, following two decades of experience at some of Switzerland's most prestigious maisons. The name "Nine" was chosen to represent the nine complications of the first prototype — a minute repeater that still sits in our Geneva atelier today.
From a small workshop on the Rue du Rhône, we have grown into an internationally recognised independent watchmaker, with boutiques in London and Tokyo. Yet our philosophy remains unchanged: to create watches of extraordinary quality that will be cherished for generations.
OUR CRAFT
Every Nine Watch begins as a sketch on paper. Our in-house design team works closely with the movement engineers to ensure that form and function are perfectly harmonised. Each case is machined from a single block of 316L stainless steel, then hand-finished by our artisans to achieve the contrast of brushed and polished surfaces that defines the Nine aesthetic.
We source only the finest materials: sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating, genuine alligator straps from the Maison Colomer, and Swiss-made movements assembled and regulated in our own workshops. Our quality control process involves over 200 individual checks before any watch leaves Geneva.
TODAY
Today, Nine Watches produces fewer than 2,000 timepieces per year. We believe that scarcity is intrinsic to quality. Our customers are collectors, professionals and connoisseurs who understand that a truly exceptional watch is not merely a timekeeping instrument, but an heirloom in the making.
